Frequently Asked Questions - Boys Ag Camp

Roughly how big is Boys Ag Camp?

This year we are hoping to have around 30 boys on camp.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

The boys are required to bring their own sleeping gear. This includes a ground sheet, airbed or mattress (some boys bring a swag or camp stretcher) along with sleeping bag, pillow etc. The boys sleep in 8 man army tents in year groups depending on numbers.

Are there other activities other than farm work?

We spend four mornings during the week working in small groups on different farms. We come back to camp for lunch and the afternoon activities.

In the afternoon there are a couple of hours for various hobbies and sports, followed by the famous bucket showers, a Bible study, dinner and evening activities.

On Sunday we attend a local church and have various other activities organised. Wednesday is our day out when we spend some time in the local area enjoying having a day off from farm work to see some of the sights.

What should I bring to camp?

A final letter with a clothing and equipment list will be sent to campers prior to camp. However, below is a brief overview of items each camper will need to bring:

  • Something to sleep on - stretchers or swags are recommended, however an inflatable mattress would work well too.
  • Bedding - a warm sleeping bag or sheets and doona. In previous year, it has been quite cold.
  • Pillow
  • Toiletries
  • Towel
  • Any applicable medication
  • Old clothes that you do not mind getting dirty for farm visits and around the campsite. Old shoes/boots.
  • A hat and sunscreen
  • Warm clothes, including warm jacket
  • Good clothes for church on Sunday
  • Pyjamas
  • Bible, notebook, pen

How do I get to camp?

Getting to camp is the responsibility of the parent.

How will campers be transported on camp?

Leaders will drive to and from farms, as well as any other travel, such as getting to church and on day off. Any leaders with red P plates will not be driving.

Will I get any further info about the camp?

Once we receive your online registration we will send out information on what to bring, arrival/departure times and directions to the site.
