Kicking goals on God's team

The first ever SU Rugby League Camp was held in Tamworth this autumn and by all accounts was a huge success. One of the parents emailed, “My boys had an absolute ball and didn’t want to come home! They’re already looking forward to next year!“

Janelle and Alan Tongue made a beautiful mother and son camp directing duo, assisted by many other leaders who gave 26 boys in years 5–7 an amazing experience. They were even featured on Prime 7 sports in the evening news!

The camp was a brilliant blend of fun, football and life skills with the Bible teaching centering on God’s love and his desire for us to be on his team. It was so obvious that many people were praying for the camp; the atmosphere was amazing, with a deep sense of God’s presence guiding the team along the way.

This camp is a brilliant example of SU doing some of its best work in supporting people like Janelle, who have a passion to share Jesus in creative ways. SU provides the structure to help the local churches as they minister to young people in their community, and the volunteers work hard to make it all happen.

It was a deep pleasure to witness the boys having such a great time and to see God touching the lives of those who attended. Well done to everyone involved; I can’t wait until next year!
